Emergency Paediatric First Aid (EPFA) Level 3

£115.00

The RQF Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid is a qualification that is mandated by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Statutory Framework for all early years providers in England. According to this framework, at least one person with a current and full paediatric first aid certificate should be present on the premises at all times when children are present. Providers should also take into account the number of children, staff, and the layout of the premises to determine whether additional paediatric first aid provision is needed to ensure that a paediatric first aider can respond to emergencies quickly.

This qualification requires a 2-day training programme consisting of 12 hours of guided learning hours (GLH) and is regulated by Ofqual. Upon successful completion, the qualification is valid for three years.

The cost of the training depends on the number of participants and can be conducted at your venue. For 1-6 people, the cost is £690+vat, for 7-12 people, it is £1100+vat, and for 13 or more people, the cost can be enquired.

The subjects covered in this qualification include the role of the paediatric first aider, seizures, the primary survey, choking, resuscitation (including CPR and the safe use of an automated external defibrillator), minor injuries, wounds, bleeding, shock, and recovery position. To qualify, students must be at least 16 years of age. This qualification is assessed through both practical demonstration and oral questioning, and learners must successfully pass the practical assessment to achieve the qualification. There is no grading for this assessment; learners either pass or are referred. The qualification is valid for three years from the date of completion.
