In this course, participants will learn how to design and implement strategies for fostering positive behaviour in schools and colleges. We will examine student behaviour problems from multiple angles and develop strategies to address them, including exploring the role of the brain in behaviour.

Recent research in educational neuroscience has found that many students do not have the ability to regulate their behaviour until their mid to early twenties, which can contribute to impulsive and unregulated behaviour in some students.

The goal of this course is to provide teachers and educational professionals with the skills and knowledge needed to effectively promote positive behaviour in their students.

Course objectives:

  1. Distinguish highly effective behaviour strategies from less successful ones, and explore the factors that differentiate them.
  2. Understand different theoretical approaches to managing student behaviour, including those that emphasize behaviour modification and those that focus on building relationships at the personal or systemic level.
  3. Create a supportive classroom environment by identifying and meeting students' psychological needs and establishing guidelines for acceptable behaviour.
  4. Develop interpersonal and helpful relationships through cooperative learning approaches and strategies.
  5. Understand bullying and ways to address it in schools.

This course is intended for teachers, managers, supervisors, and team leaders who want to deepen their understanding of promoting positive behaviour. It can be delivered in-house at your workplace or online and is suitable for teams of any size.
